Sex Toy Review: Satisfaction By Candlelight - Courtney butt plug & massage candle gift set
My partner and I had been looking at massage candles, and we certainly weren't expecting to find a set with a sex toy as well, but we were intrigued!
We had been talking about trying some butt toys, but weren't too sure where to start. It seemed like everything online was way too big or scary looking, and the idea of a plain black butt plug just didn't do it for us. When I friend of mine shared a post of this cute butt plug and massage candle set, it seemed like the perfect fit. Not to mention that we were buying from a New Zealand-owned company, which also made their products in New Zealand too - another big win!
We loved the idea of the wooden wick to crackle while melting the wax (we're all about the ambience), and purple is my favourite colour so those were two things that ticked our boxes right away. We signed up to an account for 10% off, and waited a couple of days for our new set to arrive!
When it first arrived, we absolutely loved the eco-friendly packaging, which was super discreet so we didn't need to worry about putting it in the recycling and one of the flatties knowing where it was from.
To begin with I wasn't too sure about the kiwifruit smell of the candle. I'm not a huge fan of sweet scents, but the kiwifruit is subtle enough that it doesn't bother me, but my partner can still enjoy it. We couldn't wait to try out the massage candle, so that night we lit the wick, waited 5 minutes for the wax to melt a bit, and off we went.
I was a little bit nervous about hot wax being poured on my back, and the initial sensation of the wax did jolt me a bit, but my partner quickly spread the wax on my skin and the heat felt amazing. The oil itself is super creamy and doesn't go tacky once absorbed into your skin (my favourite part! I hate massage oils that go sticky). We did need to relight the candle after the first pour, and left it burning so we could top up on oil during the massage. We barely used any wax, so no doubt the candle will last awhile.
When we first unpackaged the butt plug, I was a little surprised by how small it was. We had measured it out when looking at the different ones on the website, but I guess seeing it in real life is definitely a different perspective. I'm so happy with the size as it made trying out a butt plug for the first time much more comfortable than I expected.
I had done some research on what type of butt plug to buy as someone with zero experience, and something with a slim profile was recommended. I'd been looking at some silicone plugs initially, but after reading reviews about the clean-up and how some materials soak up lube, I didn't want to deal with that. Glass or ceramic seemed like the best options, even though the idea of those seemed quite scary!
I couldn't have been more wrong. My favourite part about the ceramic is that it always feels smooth and slippery, even with the smallest amount of lube. The two small bumps were easy to insert, and I loved the slight difference in sensation when inserting them as the second bump is bigger.
To start off with, we just popped the plug in and left it during sex, just to feel the sensation of having something in my butt. The next time though, we tried moving it a little and that felt amazing! Initially I wasn't a fan of the cold of the ceramic, so we did warm it up the first couple of times using it (which almost felt stranger that it would be warm to start off with). But since then, we have tried it cold as well, and I'm coming around to the idea.
Its a very different sensation from anything else we've ever tried with sex toys, but I'm so glad that we've tried it! The only thing I think is worth noting is that I did almost shoot the plug out when I had an orgasm, which may be a combo of the plug being a slim design and a strong orgasm. Luckily my partner realized and stopped it after only one of the bumps had popped out.
But if my orgasm was that strong while using the plug, then I'd say that's a pretty great review!
